Gift Soap (for me)

October 29, 2008

Of all the things I like to receive at Christmas, soap is my favorite thing.  Everyone in my family thinks that I should not receive soap and that when I say I want “soap things” I do not really mean it since, well, I am surrounded by soap, I dream of soap, I live soap!  I never get soap at Christmas.

So, I am officially stating that I LOVE TO RECEIVE SOAP THAT OTHERS HAVE MADE!  Yes, it is true.  I make a million bars of soap, but I still love receiving gift soap, made by another soap maker, such as meself.

So, what is it that thrills me, that wows me, that totally makes me so happy to get a fascinating bar of prettily wrapped soap?  I really do not know, but it sure does all of the above.

Gift soap is more than just a gift, I say, since it is useful, it smells nice, it doesn’t take up space, it can go away when you tire of looking at it (just use it up), it is biodegradable and we all need that, don’t we?  It is not political and it doesn’t talk back.

Handmade soap is the best gift in the world!  If fits nicely in stockings hung by the chimney with care, it can clean boo boos, it can kill germs, it doesn’t kill good bacteria, it can’t talk back.  Did I mention that already?

Handmade gift soap is from the heart since the hands that made it may actually be attempting to clean up the world in a small way.  So, family members, send me soap if you need to buy a gift.  Save a fish, build a house, but send me soap.  Do you need my address?

Christmas Parties

October 25, 2008
  • If you are invited to a Christmas party in someone’s home, it is appropriate to take a hostess gift.
  • Handmade soap makes the perfect gift.
  • Gift soap is always a welcome item to anyone on any occasion.
  • It is useful, yet unique, and tasteful.
  • If you are the hostess, put some soap in a basket by the door for guests to pick up as they leave.  It can be any soap, but Christmas soap is great!;
  • Wrap soap in colorful paper to stuff stockings with (especially for girls);
  • Make a unique soap basket with extra items appropriate to the person you are giving it to, ie., a reader would like soap and a book with a bath pillow.

You get the idea.  I am working on making my Christmas soap and it will be out in a few weeks, just in time for shopping!
